Apparently, back in the 80′s there was this cable-access talent show called “Stairway to Stardom”. It really tapped the deep vein of awkwardness running through Brooklyn during those cocaine-fueled days. I am happy to say that the genre continues to this day on Brooklyn cable-access station BCAT, and we can only hope and pray that someone is putting it all on crappy videotape right now.

Went to Difara’s in Midwood, Brooklyn for lunch today. Best pizza in the world! Dom makes them by hand, one by one, all by himself. I have never seen any of his kids so much as touch the dough. In his day, he wasn’t an artisan, he was a pizza-maker. A true original.

While looking online for a video of Little River Band’s classic ballad, “Lady”, I accidentally stumbled across a nerd love, so dark and depraved, that no Trekkie dare speak its name in public: a sentimental dedication to 40 years of the beloved Enterprise.

Brooklyn Loses its (Disco) Balls

I was very saddened to hear that Spectrum, the
location of the Odyssey Disco featured in Saturday Night Fever, is auctioning off the transporting dancefloor that defined a generation; in addition to John Travolta’s undisputable proof that white men could dance, of course (it was all we had).

The sale goes down on April 1st (please God… let this be a joke). Can the city stop this? Oh lawd!! BWAAHAAAHHAAHAAHA!

The New York Blade says:
Rizzo did not disclose the name of the clubâ€™s buyer. But he did say it was a real estate investment company and they planned to tear the club down.

Big Audio Dynamite

How cool is this? The Boombox Museum. I was actually able to find the model that I purchased at Crazy Eddie’s on Long Island back in the day (pictured above). Unfortunately, I can’t seem to find an old friend’s Marantz that had a TV, turntable, AND at least two tape decks on board! The thing was so huge, I think it came with wheels (I am not kidding). I felt so honored just having seen it once. (Thanks Boing Boing!)
